In order to characterise dynamic forming properties of sheet metals, at DyMaLab a setup is developed that imposes controllable and adjustable deformation paths to metal sheet samples. The setup combines basic features of split Hopkinson compression bar setups and static bulge tests. The facility not only allows to determine dynamic forming limits of metals, however, can also be used to test sheet materials at high, controlled stress triaxialities.
